Japanese proficiency test. Subjects to those who do not speak Japanese as their first language. Some 60 countries around the world, including Japan, can apply for the exam. The capability acquired from JLPT is guaranteed by the International Exchange Fund and recognized internationally as a guardian by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is valid for life
The number of JLPT applicants is around 700,000 worldwide, excluding the number of JST, EJU and BJT applicants.

The test will be revamped and implemented in five stages from the most difficult N1 to the easiest N5 from 2010. For reference, the recommended number of vocabulary in Naver's dictionary JLPT-rated list is 7709, N2 4972, N3 2703, N4 1,394 and N5 512.

N1

It has become a little more difficult than the old first class. For reference, the first class of the old section has acquired a high degree of grammar, Chinese characters (about 2,000 characters), and language skills (about 100,000 words) to enable social life and a comprehensive Japanese ability to study and study in college (about 900 hours of Japanese).

N2

Ability to read and write, with a high degree of grammar, Chinese characters (1,000 characters) and a wide range of conversational skills (approximately 6,000 words) that are not limited to a small portion but are not limited to the overall extent of learning Japanese for 600 hours and completing an intermediate Japanese course).

N3

In the course of the reorganization, the new grade was established. The middle level was established, accepting the opinion that the difficulty difference between the old level 2 and the old level 3.

N4

The ability to read and write simple sentences (about 300 hours of Japanese study and elementary Japanese course) while gaining basic grammar, Chinese characters (about 300 characters), and vocabulary (about 15,500 words) so that you can interact with them everyday.

N5

The ability to read and write simple sentences (about 100 hours of Japanese language study and begin a course in Japanese) while acquiring superabundant grammar, Chinese characters (about 100 characters) and vocabulary (about 800 words) so that you can interact with them daily without specialities.
